CENTRAL Folk Workshop and Exhebition

As part of our 75th anniversary celebrations we wanted to spread our culture to the people of Birmingham and beyond. Together with CENTRALA who let us use their space, we organised an all day Polish Folk Dance workshop and costume exhebition. The event was free and well attended by Polish and non Polish participants from all over Birmingham.

We danced our Zywiec to get the room going and then our instructor Monika went through leading a workshop on the waltz 'walc' step followed by a bit of fun with the 'Klapok' dance from the Lowicz region of central Poland. All of this was accompanied by our beautiful singing and our very own band who played for our demonstrations.

We had a small costume display on mannequins, but aswell as that we did a fashion show catwalk with different costumes from different regions, explaining their intricate designs and the significance behind them . The day went really well and we hope to do one of these event again soon !
